
Jennifer Kovarovic
Jen Kovarovic first fell in love with teaching violin as a high school student in Ridgefield, Connecticut. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from New York University, where her teachers included Sylvia Gholson, Serena Canin and Joey Corpus. She remained in New York and completed her training for Suzuki Violin Books 1-8 at the School for Strings’ Teacher’s Training Program under the instruction of Louise Behrend.
After founding a private studio in Brooklyn, Jen moved to the Washington, DC area, where she was mentored by David Strom and attended the Suzuki Pedagogy graduate courses at the University of Maryland. She then completed an independent apprenticeship with Ronda Cole and registered Violin books 1-10.
Realizing the need for high quality parent education programs in the Suzuki community, Jen become a certified instructor in Parent Effectiveness Training. She went on to earn a Master of Education degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Washington, where she studied the relationship between Suzuki education and emotion regulation. She is most passionate about nurturing the socio-emotional development of her students.
Jen lives in Seattle, Washington, where she directs and teaches at her private violin studio, Suzuki by the Sound. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Associate of Washington State, and the American String Teachers’ Association.
