Sarah Riechers

Sarah Riechers is an expert in early childhood and elementary musical development. In her 16 years of
experience in elementary general music in the Fairfax and Prince William County Schools in Virginia,
Mrs. Riechers has worked with kids of all backgrounds and abilities. She specializes in providing a fun
and engaging musical experience that allows access to high quality music education for all.
Mrs. Riechers has her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst in Music Education and Saxophone Performance. While there, she received the Theodore
Presser Award for musical and academic accomplishment. She earned her Master of Music with a
specialization in Kodály pedagogy from Lakeland University where she also completed her Kodály and
Conversational Solfege levels.
Mrs. Riechers has been nominated for various teaching awards including the Prince William County
Schools’ Outstanding Educator Award, the Best of Prince William in the education category, and was
recently a quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award. In addition to her role in the
elementary classroom, she serves on the board of the Virginia Organization of Kodály Educators and has co-chaired their annual choral festival for singers in grades 4-6 many times.
Outside of teaching, Mrs. Riechers likes to read, visit the beaches of Cape Cod, and spend lots of time
with her husband Christopher and children, Caeden and Charlotte.
